I know what you mean. Drawing lines is the most difficult thing to do, especially if you are concerned about tolerance. It is important that the protection of one group does not mean harm to another.

Oliver, I agree with you. I just wonder where you draw the line. Banning under 16’s from seeing the news? Going to the movies? Hearing music with swear words?

I think they should ban war instead.

I love my country. As long as it’s to both parties’ consent, minors seem to be allowed to have sex, and even though buying porn is legally only allowed from 16 and up, I don’t think people will really be able to have my younger brother arrested for having porn on him. Of course, sex in public is pretty much a no-no, though I’m not sure if that’s about public opinion or just the comfort issue.

Your thoughts on porn are completely valid though

I think it’s perfectly legit not to sell mature content to minors. Videogames cater to a mature audience to a higher degree these days, and if it is illegal for minors to go into a videoshack and rent the chainsaw massacre or porn (as it would be here in Germany), why should they be allowed to buy a game with similar content? At the same time I think parents should be more involved in what their kids play. Just because you and me, as I assume, are rational persons, and also probably were rational kids able to differentiate artificial content from real life it does not mean that every kid is. A bill such as this is much more legit and useful than any kind of “ban cheerleading, it’s offensive to the prudish” idea.
